Skin as Art

Possibly because I suck at drawing, I practice skin-care as an art form!
In the treatment studio, I examine skin using both sides of my noggin...the analytical left-brain and the more creative right-side. Weighing each canvas, my mind's eye glimpses a sneak-peak of its ultimate version. I'm then able to design specific tactics for bringing to light each skin's unique, inherent beauty.

Plan in hand, it morphs into an artistic collaboration between the skin's owner and me. I cull the choicest tools from my palette of skin enhancers to start the process, while the client advances with mindful, customized care at home.

Similar to artists skilled in charcoal or acrylics, inspired facialists also have a smorgasboard of aesthetic options. Some of our mediums: Innumerable peels & enzymes, (all differing a wee bit), diamond tipped micro-dermabrasion for precise polishing, ultrasound for ingredient penetration or edema reduction, micro-current for firming, LED lights for rejuvenation and treating acne, and dozens of lotions & potions, serums and masks. By combining & tweaking these modalities just so, skin can be absolutely transformed. Which can then trigger transforming the bigger picture...your life. I've seen it happen. And it's outa-control cool.

Have I mentioned how much I love what I do?
Unlike a finished painting however, skin is malleable. It's an ever-evolving work-in-progress, and its masterpiece version requires continuous loving care. Do not confuse this with self absorption. This is self-nurturing. Once thought of as idle vanity, grooming (washing your face, combing your hair) has actually been proven to provide measurable calming effects in we humans. For some, it may be the only alone, quiet time we have much of the day. A period, however brief, when the 'triviality' of vanity helps us honor our worth. Our value in the world. And our value to our selves, as we pay tribute to our soul's covering...the only representative of our soul, the true 'us', that we and others see.

Your skin's ultimate transcendence on the outside allows your genuine inner beauty to be illuminated. "Reveal your soul's inner radiance on the outside" is my SKIN motto. When your outside appearance more closely matches who you feel inside, a united, harmonious feeling is generated throughout the body. This can, unsurprisingly, be enormously empowering. It translates to moving through your days with greater contentment and confidence. Big, important stuff.

Consider your skin like a diamond in the rough...and together we facet, polish & nourish our way to what's already there...your own gloriously beautiful soul, getting a clearer opportunity to shine.
